Our lab leader, Associate Professor Ana Sequeira, has just been awarded the prestigious Fenner Medal by the Australian Academy of Science for her outstanding contributions to marine biology! This award recognises distinguished research in Biology by researchers up to 10 years post-PhD, making it a testament to Ana's remarkable achievements, and underscoring the impact of Ana's scientific endeavours and dedication to the conservation of charismatic and endangered marine species.
The Australian Academy of Science (AAS) is a non-for-profit organisation of Australia's top research scientists. It was founded on 16 February 1954, and provides "independent, authoritative and influential scientific advice, promotes international scientific engagement, builds public awareness and understanding of science, and champions, celebrates and supports excellence in Australian science". This year, 22 of Australia’s leading scientists received a prestigious honorific award from the Australian Academy of Science - you can learn about all 2024 awardees here. Including Assoc Prof Ana Sequeira, three of the awardees are from Australian National University.
