Adrianne Hortle has joined the Sequeira lab to undertake an interdisciplinary project within the Integrated Coastal Analyses and Sensor Technology (ICoAST) and Gathaagudu Animal Tracking (GAT) projects linking remote sensing seagrass mapping and turtle observations in Shark Bay (Gathaagudu), Western Australia. With collaboration from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA), her research will aim to build knowledge to address the impacts of marine heatwaves on both seagrass and turtle populations under the co-supervision of key researchers Dr Sharyn Hickey from the University of Western Australia (UWA) and Dr Ben Radford from the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS).
Prior to joining the Sequeira Lab, Adrianne gained experience through a conservation internship in the Manu Biosphere Reserve in Peru and currently works as a GIS Analyst and field Botanist for a Perth-based environmental consultancy. She completed a BSc in Zoology and Conservation Biology at the University of Western Australia and has a passion for both marine and terrestrial ecology.
