The Sequeira Lab proudly assisted with representing the School of Research Biology at the recent ANU Open Day — one of the university’s largest and most vibrant events! The ANU campus was buzzing with excitement as thousands of prospective students and their families poured in for Open Day 2025. It wasn’t just a showcase—it was a chance for future students to get up close with the people, projects and purpose behind ANU’s world-class research. From interactive exhibits to real conversations with researchers, the day offered a genuine look into what life and learning at ANU is all about.

During the event, our PhD student Olga M. Azevedo and Honours student Jaden Lane had the chance to speak with a diverse range of attendees about the school’s mission, research, and impact, engaging with attendees in conversations around marine conservation and data-driven ecology. Their passion and ability to communicate complex science in relatable ways can make a powerful impression—especially on young students exploring their future in science.

For the Sequeira Lab, this event was a chance to give back: to inspire, to educate and to share our excitement for marine research with the next generation of scientists and conservationists! Thanks to ANU for making this event possible and to every attendee who stopped by to learn more about what we do.
