Zhenyu joined the Sequeira Lab to complete his Master of Science (Advanced) in Quantitative Biology and Bioinformatics at the Australian National University (ANU). His research focused on tiger shark movement patterns in Shark Bay, Western Australia — called Gathaagudu by the Malgana Peoples, the Traditional Custodians of the region — using tracking data and quantitative methods to examine how movement varies across temporal scales.

Zhenyu holds a Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics from ANU and also a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from Shandong University. He previously worked on eelgrass genetics using bioinformatics approaches. Looking ahead, Zhenyu is also interested in exploring applications of artificial intelligence in drug discovery and development, as well as in single-cell research.

Zhenyu’s quantitative skills and curiosity about animal movement made him a valuable addition to the lab. Well done for reaching this milestone, Zhenyu!
